AI & Chat Issues

AI chat is not responding

  • Check your internet connection
  • Verify your API key is correct (Settings → Void → Provider)
  • If using Safe Appeals Cloud, check that you have credits remaining
  • Try reloading the window (Ctrl+Shift+P → 'Developer: Reload Window')
  • Check if the model service is experiencing issues (Anthropic, OpenAI status pages)

'API key not found' or 'Authentication failed' error

  • Open Settings (Ctrl+,) and search for 'Void'
  • Ensure your API key is entered correctly with no extra spaces
  • For Safe Appeals Cloud: sign out and sign back in
  • Try generating a new API key from your provider's dashboard

AI responses are slow

  • Try a faster model (Claude Haiku or GPT-4 Mini)
  • Reduce the amount of context/files included in your message
  • Start a new conversation to clear accumulated context
  • Check your internet connection speed

Ctrl+K quick edit not working

  • Make sure you have text selected in the editor
  • Check that a model is configured in Settings → Void → Ctrl+K Model
  • Verify your API key/credits are working
  • Try pressing Escape first, then Ctrl+K again

Safe Appeals Cloud Issues

Cannot sign in to Safe Appeals Cloud

  • Make sure you're using Google sign-in
  • Check that pop-ups are not blocked in SafeAppeals
  • Try clearing cookies and signing in again
  • If using a work Google account, check with your IT admin

Credits not showing after purchase

  • Wait a few seconds—credits are added instantly but may take a moment to sync
  • Click the refresh button in the dashboard
  • Sign out and sign back in
  • Check your email for a receipt confirming the purchase
  • Contact support@safeappeals.com if credits don't appear after 5 minutes

'Insufficient credits' error

  • Check your balance in the dashboard
  • Purchase more credits if needed
  • Consider using a smaller/cheaper model
  • Check if you accidentally have a very large file in context

Application Issues

SafeAppeals won't start / crashes on launch

  • Try running as Administrator
  • Check Windows Event Viewer for error details
  • Disable any antivirus temporarily to test
  • Try resetting user data: delete %APPDATA%\SafeAppeals folder
  • Reinstall SafeAppeals from the latest release

Extensions not working

  • Open the Extensions view (Ctrl+Shift+X)
  • Check if the extension is enabled
  • Try disabling and re-enabling the extension
  • Check the extension's output in Output panel (View → Output)
  • Reinstall the extension

File not saving / 'Permission denied'

  • Check if the file is read-only
  • Ensure you have write permissions to the folder
  • Check if another program has the file open
  • Try 'Save As' to a different location
  • Run SafeAppeals as Administrator

Performance is slow

  • Close unused tabs and editors
  • Disable extensions you're not using
  • Increase available memory in settings
  • Check if antivirus is scanning SafeAppeals folders
  • Exclude workspace folders from antivirus real-time scanning
