Settings
Customize SafeAppeals to work the way you prefer. Access settings with Ctrl+,.
Opening Settings
There are several ways to open settings:
- Keyboard: Press
Ctrl+, - Menu: File → Preferences → Settings
- Command Palette:
Ctrl+Shift+P→ "Preferences: Open Settings"
Void Settings (AI Configuration)
Void settings control all AI-related features. Find them by searching for "Void" in settings or navigating to Extensions → Void.
Provider Settings
Provider
Choose your AI provider: Safe Appeals Cloud, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or custom.
API Key
Your API key for the selected provider (not needed for Safe Appeals Cloud).
Model
Select which model to use for each feature.
Feature-Specific Models
You can set different models for different features:

Chat Mode Settings
Default Chat Mode
The chat mode used for new conversations.
Auto-Approve Tools
Automatically approve AI tool usage in Agent mode (use with caution).
Appearance
Customize how SafeAppeals looks:
Color Theme
Choose a color theme. Search 'theme' in extensions for more options.
Font Family
The font used in the editor.
Font Size
Text size in the editor (default: 14).
Icon Theme
Icons shown in the file explorer.
Editor Settings
Common editor customizations:
Word Wrap
How text wraps at the edge of the editor.
Tab Size
Number of spaces per tab (default: 4).
Auto Save
Automatically save files.
Format On Save
Automatically format documents when saving.
Minimap
Show the code minimap on the right side.
Privacy & Security
Telemetry
Send anonymous usage data to help improve SafeAppeals.
Trust Workspace
Control what features are enabled in untrusted workspaces.
Settings Sync
You can sync your settings across devices by signing in with a Microsoft or GitHub account:
- Click the account icon in the bottom-left corner
- Select "Turn on Settings Sync..."
- Choose what to sync (settings, keybindings, extensions, etc.)
- Sign in with your account
Resetting Settings
To reset a specific setting to its default value:
- Search for the setting
- Hover over it
- Click the gear icon
- Select "Reset Setting"
To reset all settings, open the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P) and search for "Preferences: Open Settings (JSON)", then delete the contents of the file.
